Monkey and Other Business

We have been swinging from topic to topic during our rainforest unit driven by our Experience Curriculum unit! One particular fun topic was monkeys!

We had a great time reading about monkeys using both fiction and nonfiction texts! We revisited the silly nursey rhyme "Five Little Monkeys Jumping on a Bed" and then used our best STEM skills (and Keva blocks) to create beds for our monkeys! We also practiced the rhyme "Five Little Monkeys" and used our STEM skills to hang monkeys off a vine (thanks to Experience Curriculum's rainforest unit for those supplies). To wrap up our mini monkey unit, we colored fun monkey masks and acted silly while reciting our rhyme.

Not only did we explore monkeys, but other rainforest animals as well. Jaguars were one we read more about. We then created silly letter J for jaguar crafts. I love seeing how each age takes it to a new level. From toddlers to first grade, their creativity is fun to see!

Even if you *think* an activity or craft is too hard for particular age you have at home, give it a go. You may be pleasantly surprised by the results! Happy crafting!
